Libraries often struggle with how they stack up against Google and Wikipedia. However, whether we like it or not, our patrons are overwhelmingly starting their information seeking with those sources. Furthermore, both are powerful search and information tools that offer much value to researchers and librarians. Inserting your library into these spaces offers you a way to control your presence there, to collect analytics, and to reach your audience in a mobile-friendly, linked data-forward way. In this session we will help librarians and library staff understand the value of having a Wikipedia page and a Google Business page for your library. Presenters will showcase their own institutional Wikipedia and Google Business pages, and give step-by-step practical advice in creating, developing, and promoting your own.
