The American Library Association defines eGovernment as "the use of technology, particularly the internet, as a means to deliver government services and to facilitate the interaction of the public with government entities." The MELSA eGovernment Task Force was convened to examine how library patrons navigate the paperless, online government world and how libraries can support those with limited tech skills or access. To study the eGovernment landscape, the Task Force met with representatives from a variety of federal, state, and local agencies, including MN Courts Self-Help Center, MNSure, MN Dept of Revenue, IRS, AARP Tax Assistance, MN Secretary of State Elections Office, Metropolitan Council Housing Authority, MN Unemployment Insurance Office, MN Driver Services, MN Coalition of Government Information, the Social Security Administration, and E-democracy.org. Attend this session to hear about what this group has learned, including their summary recommendations.
