A Conversation about Collections

Libraries are very much defined by their collections, but opportunities for professional development and collaboration for the staff who build these collections are relatively limited. This session will give collection development staff and stakeholders the opportunity to discuss a variety of issues in building modern collections and develop solutions that can be implemented in their work as well as develop an enhanced network of local colleagues and potential avenues for future collaboration. Proposed topics include: community demographics, diversity in collections, managing 21st century collections, career planning and managing organizational transition.  We envision this session to be a facilitated, structured conversation about issues surrounding materials selection today rather than a formal presentation.
