Big Questions: Creating and Sustaining a Library Discussion Series

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

What are your patrons talking about? Your library can facilitate conversations that matter to them. Since 2008 Briggs Library has offered a campus/community discussion series called Asking the Big Questions where a range of important topics are explored. Experts from the campus or community are enlisted to give a brief overview of the subject matter before general discussion. Examples of past discussions include: climate change, trigger warnings, artificial intelligence, feminism, beauty, immigration, gun violence, GLBT issues, Native Americans and Minnesota, religion, political advertising, memes, and racial justice. Briggs Library regularly partners with other disciplines and provides refreshments. In this session participants will learn how to create their own discussion series, plan for future topics, collaborate with other stakeholders, and publicize events in creative ways
