The Kids Don't Make the Choice: Supporting Schools without Libraries

Many of our highest need schools don't have libraries and experience significant barriers in creating regular access to our public libraries. Though a school may have made a difficult choice to not provide text/digital resources based on limited budget, the child still suffers that consequence of limited access. This session will go well beyond a "library card in hand" practices to a "no excuses" rhetoric of student support in underresourced schools. Participants will be given the opportunity to reflect on the topic through case studies emphasizing the complexity of the work while also celebrating everyone's ability to accomplish it with serious thought and sincere commitment to the effort.
