Mary Healy, Branch Manager, Anoka County Library

Mary Healy was working part-time as a library clerk at the Hopkins Library in 2003 when the sentence, "You'd make a great children's librarian, Mary" encouraged her to take the step of leaving a 9 year career as a naturalist to leap Into the unknown world of library science. After graduating with her master's degree from the University of North Texas in 2005, a phone call from her now brother-in-law led her to the Anoka County Library system. Working at 3 different branches when she started, "multiple buildings gal" is what they called her. Although she never thought she would enjoy a managerial position, she took up the challenge when asked and dived right in to become the manager at the St. Francis library. In 2014 she transferred to her current role as the manager of the Centennial Library in Circle Pines. She finds being a manager to be challenging, yet rewarding. She misses her former naturalist career but knows she has, through all her experiences, become not just a great children's librarian but a greatly librarian for everyone. Make sure you ask her about the frog in the library!
